The DBPR’s Application Status Inquiry page is a massive source of confusion for applicants. The website will initally show a lot of “deficiencies” (in red in the graphic below) which looks really alarming. But in reality, it is more than likely that the DBPR staff member assigned to your application has not gotten that far yet. There is no need to panic…We ask that folks not really put any weight into what they see on that website.
If your application is truly deficient (needs correcting or is missing information), the DBPR will send you an email with a Deficiency Letter attached, stating specifically what errors or omissions are contained in your application. Keep an eye out for an email from Application.Deficiencies@myfloridalicense.com, infact, add that email address to your contacts list in your email address book.
If you see “Personal Credit Report Too Old” (like below), do not panic and order new credit reports; it probably means that the examiner has not gotten to that point yet. If you see “No Fingerprint Record in 12 Months” and you know you got printed, don’t panic because the examiner probably hasn’t gotten that far yet. If you are unsure, please call the DBPR at 850-487-1395 and verify whether or not those items are deficient.
We have been relaying these issues to the DBPR for over 5 years now; there is no easy resolution, apparently. We do know that some of the staff at the DBPR share our frustration, but there is little that can be done about it.
So before you panic and hurry up and order credit reports, or call your fingerprint provider and tell them that the DBPR says that your fingerprints were not done correctly, check your email (including the junk/spam folders) or call the DBPR at 850-487-1395 and verify that the issue is truly an issue and not a non-issue caused by the outdated Application Status Inquiry function on the DBPR website.
