It’s that time again. Florida contractors are entering the two-year renewal period for DBPR Construction Licenses.
Many of you are being flooded with unsolicited emails, texts, and advertisements about license renewals, continuing education courses, and deadlines. It can be difficult to determine which messages are legitimate and whether you actually need additional continuing education hours.
Before purchasing any courses, check your DBPR online account to see whether you have a continuing education shortfall or if you simply need to pay your renewal fee.
How to Check Your Continuing Education Status
- Log in to your DBPR account at MyFloridaLicense.com.
- Under “Licenses Linked to My Online Services Account,” click on your license on the right-hand side of the screen.
- Under the “Functions” section, select “View My Continuing Education.”
- On the next page, select the renewal period 9/01/2024 – 8/31/2026 from the drop-down menu.
- Review the “Shortfall” column. This will show:
- How many hours you still need to complete
- The specific type of hours required
Many contractors only need to complete 7 hours of continuing education rather than the full 14 hours, so it’s worth checking before signing up for a course.
Still Not Sure?
If you’re unable to determine your continuing education requirements, call the DBPR directly at 850-487-1395. A representative can review your license record and tell you exactly how many hours you need before you pay your renewal fee.
Continuing Education Recommendation
If you need continuing education courses, I recommend AAA Construction School:
👉 AAA Construction School Courses
They currently offer:
- 14-Hour Contractor Renewal Package – $69
- 7-Hour Contractor Renewal Package – $79
As always, verify your shortfall through your DBPR account before purchasing any courses.
Reminder: Don’t panic because of renewal emails or text messages. Check your DBPR account first so you’ll know exactly what is required for your license renewal.
Have a great Fall Season!
